Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) affects about 1 in 400 children, adolescents,
and young adults under 20 years of age.
Previously called insulin-dependent or juvenile diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes happens when one's body does not produce INSULIN, a type of hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreatic islets that regulate the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. This is caused by an autoimmune reaction that results in the body attacking its own beta cells, triggered by unknown factors.
Justin's Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Justin Hendler in honor of those affected by Type I Diabetes. Justin has been battling Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 10. Although life took an unexpected turn at a young age, Justin still managed to attend sleep-away camp as planned just six weeks after he was diagnosed, and Justin continues his journey with perseverance and hope.
Your support and contributions will enable us to make a real difference. All the fundings received will be used to promote and support selected charitable activities through grants, funding, and financial assistance to various individuals, institutions, and organizations dedicated to the aid and the assistance of children diagnosed with Type I Diabetes.
